The Hummingbirds: Who we are
Welcome to The Hummingbirds website!
We are an all-female a cappella group from the University of St Andrews who just celebrated our ten year anniversary!! Founded in 2006, we sing songs from artists like Alt-J to Adele, Florence and the Machine to Bruce Springsteen - we love to perform any and every kind of music!! Speaking of performing, did anyone say AWARD-WINNING dancing? We won best choreography at the Scottish A Cappella Championships in 2015, and we love to compete as often as we can.
2016 was also a year of firsts for us, as we performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time. This was more successful than we could ever have imagined, as not only did we have two sell-out shows (!!) but we also appeared on STV twice, including on their best of the festival programme!!

Christmas Concert 2016

The Hummingbirds had a great time performing at the annual university of St Andrews A Cappella Society Christmas Concert. It was an amazing first opportuinty for our new members to perform on Younger Hall stage ahead of SAAC in 2017. Our set included: It's what you don't do (Lianne La Havas), If I could change your mind (Haim) and The Power of Love (Gabrielle Aplin).

Edinburgh Fringe: Love Is Not Our Forte

2016 marked The Hummingbird's debut Edinburgh Fringe run! With this constituting the biggest project undertaken by the group to date it was a massive achievement for all members! 'Love Is Not Our Forte' was a huge success with two sell out shows and two appearances of STV Edinburgh and formed an incredibly memorable week for everyone involved!

It's Good To Give: Edinburgh

The Hummingbirds were honoured to be invited to sing for The Charity 'It's Good 2 Give' in Edinburgh as part of their Ripple Retreat: Big Get Together! Helping to fundraise for such an amazing charity was a wonderful experience which we truly enjoyed.

The Hummingbirds were privileged to participate in the University of St Andrews Alumni 12 Days of Christmas Video which will be sent to over 60,000 people. It was a great opportunity to work with Lightbox Media and prep ourselves for the upcoming festivities....despite in being October.
